Out The Door – An Exploration of Street Photography

"Out The Door –
An Exploration of Street Photography"
FUNCTION 1: Photo Diary
Street photography shows a candid presentation of everyday life, and therefore is a very versatile genre of photography. For this project, these images were taken after the lockdown was lifted in the U.K. in 2021 to encapsulate the changes post-lockdown. This project explores how the genre of street photography can be treated in different forms in the area of graphic and media design.
Explorations in layout were done to figure out the best way to tell the narrative of a post-lockdown world (in this case, London). I went out on different days, and photographed anything I could find. I experimented with different layouts to see which layout could best to tell the story.

The book layout is based on a traditional written diary, but in visual format that has a personal feel. It shows the journeys I took post-lockdown, my observations of my surroundings in image forms wherein colours played big roles in the narrative of the images.
The B&W version evokes a different story compared to the coloured images and I wanted a layout to showcase the two contrasting formats as one body.
FUNCTION 2:
To demonstrate the versatility of the street photography genre, I explored how these images would functions as ad posters. To stick with the theme, this coincides with the idea of 'getting back into the world'.
