CULTURAL YEAR BOOK - BERGEN KOMMUNE
An annual report like this one for the department of culture at the municipality of Bergen is crammed with numbers and graphs, and requires an emphasis on legibility and orientation. Our goal was to make the reading experience seem less like work and more like play by introducing a series of abstract illustrations to evoke curiosity and wonder.
The illustrations are experimentation and combinations of techniques that have been developed through years of collaboration with the creative and cultural industry. The purpose was not to refer directly to the editorial content, rather make a representation of the wide specter of artists and cultural institutions presented in the book. A mix of photography, hand drawings and digital elements combined with an emphasis on special printing techniques and paper qualities makes this book an entertaining reading experience.
