You will start your walk in Piazza della Vittoria, where the impressive Palazzo Reale or norman Palace (map 6-B3) is situated. it was built by the arabs in the 9th century, enlarged by the normans and then restructured in the time of the sveva dynasty. You’ll find that the beautiful halls are full of fabulous mosaics,
along with the sala dei venti (Hall of the Winds) and the sala d’ercole (Hall of Hercules). located on the first floor, the Cappella Palatina, dedicated to the apostles, Peter and Paul, is the tallest and most harmonious example of norman art in the city and was built in 1132-1140 for King roger ii. inside is a wonderful blend of architecture and mosaic decorations, with three naves with apses,
