Other possible effects of exposure to the cold air are, frost bite, blocked sinus and runny nose. This mask is electronic, it heats the air electrically, before it is inhaled. The mask has a micro-controller and a temperature sensor for regulating and maintaining a set ideal temperature. The heating element sits in a heating chamber away from the face and heats the air during and in-between breaths. The chamber is fitted with a one way air valve- so that the exhaled air does not flush the heated air out of the chamber. This prototype of the mask is fully functional. Read Less
