Horizon Zero Dawn
Personal project realized in collaboration with the talented Lego builder Nicola Stocchi who kindly agreed to share with me his digital Lego recreation of the Thunderjaw. The most iconic robot from the game Horizon Zero Dawn.
When I first saw this beast, I knew right away I had to do something with it.
However the creation process was not an easy road. The workflow to export this huge model from Mecabricks into 3ds Max is not streamlined and the handling and organization of thousands of pieces was really time consuming. The ringging part was very interesting because I had to dig into the model and try to understand how all these parts were connected together. Next was the creation of the base stand, which took me a few days of work to build piece by piece. The shading, lighting and posing were the funniest part as it was finally the time to play with the model! In the end it was a long journey, but it was such fun to work on this project!
For the people interested in Nicola's work, you can take a look here.
And if you want to build this Thunderjaws with real lego, you can buy the instructions in Nicola's shop right here. Be aware that these instructions are from a newer version of the Thunderjaws, the design is slightly different and don't include the base stand.
3ds Max, VRay 5 GPU & Mecabricks.
