The project started with collecting posters that have Arabic type that intrigue us. The next step was to select one and develop a font based on it. I picked an Egyptian movie poster called “Al Mourahikat”. From a few letters I was challenged to create a full font in Arabic and English which required research about letter forms and sizes. We were asked to name it, install it on font book, create a type specimen, and a brochure to present it. I named it “Al Shaeb”, meaning “The People”, inspired from the characters of the movie.
