This diploma thesis is placed in Trikala, Greece. The project’s subject is the redesign of the public space of a riparian area with special cultural interest, as it includes an old Ottoman bath which was later used as a prison, an Ottoman mosque, an orthodox church and an elementary school. The proposal focuses on strengthening the role of the region as part of a wider network of green spaces, on yielding new significance to the existing buildings and on highlighting the river. The resulting landscape provides a mixed use and pedestrian friendly urban space.
