Global Orgasm is a educational platform and multimedia performance where I challenged the world to bring a woman to orgasm via social media.
Using a combination of sex toys, mobile technology, and social networking, with an audience of potentially millions, to evoke sexual climax, the project explores intimacy in a digital world investigating issues around real-life sexuality, ethics and pornography.
Imagine, streamed on live-video, harnessed in variety of remotely controlled sex toys connected to a network of cell-phones applications, facebook application, tweeter stream, chat room and online tv, I challenges the world to witness and bring a woman to orgasm.
Here the performer’s body is the catalyst of a global desire while the social network functions democratic platform, vehicle of a sublime global experience. To succeed, all the network’s participants will need to coordinate their input. Based on the number of participants, how well participants work together, and with what accuracy they can control the toys the performer might or might not get an orgasm.
Performing a long-distance global sexual act abstracts the body and technology equally, uncoupling action with the consequence of that action. Here similarly to Marina Abramovic’s in “Rhythm 0” by putting myself in a position of extreme vulnerability I becoming the ultimate interface exacerbating cultural and social behaviors. Through the lens of technology I act on current social and communication glitches unveiling misapprehensive behaviors regarding sexuality, sexual identity and female identity at large.
How will the world touch her, will the world lessen to my guidance? Will I get an orgasm? If through the process she is not being pleased, or worst hurt, will the word stop? Can this Global Orgasm become a Global Rape? what is this saying about our society and communication protocols? Are we able to control ourselves if we can hide our identities behind the veil of the internet? All of these questions and much more are explored in this project.
In a time were the study of woman orgasm, sexual function and biology is still an uncharted territory mostly ignored by modern science, where woman sex toys are design and build manly by mans, where Internet retes new platform for sexual abuse, online rape and internet bulling, modern laws and coon morality struggle comply.
Global organs project function as an provocative activating agent and social research rising questions about woman sexuality, culture and their place in society.
