A photo book featuring the work of photographer, Martin Lamneck. This body of work, titled XY, by Martin Lamneck is about the exploration of modern masculinity. As a team, we felt the best way to represent his work would be to use muted colors pulled directly from the photos being used in the book, and to incorporate illustrative hand-lettered type. We also felt it would be interesting to make the cover out of wood and to screen print the title of the book onto the wooden cover. By using both feminine and masculine accents throughout the book, we were able to challenge the reader to question what masculinity really is. The hand-lettering throughout the book is printed on a clear film so it appears to be over top of the photo, forcing the reader to physically lift the film up to view the photograph. The lettering over the photographs is a haiku poem by Michael Pietrobon. As the reader pages through the book, the gradually read the entire poem. Read Less
