The Volt Kit - 2022 NYCFC Kit Launch

NYCFC's 2022 secondary kit designed by adidas features the Club's first orange jersey—a color the supporters have taken a strong linking to. The lighting detail is inspired by the Club's official supporters groups The Third Rail and Los Templados, and the electric energy they create in the stands.

They are the driving force for the team, so we wanted to celebrate them with this kit. It happened to align with the Club winning its first MLS Cup, so the launch was centered around celebrating the Club and the fans as MLS Cup Champions.

The inspiration was the handwritten graffiti you see around New York, representing the mark our fans have made on the Club. All the handwritten words are chants and cheers from our fans, along with some fun Easter eggs sprinkled in.
Teasers for the kit confirmed what many people had speculated: finally a kit with a lot of orange. We invited a few select fans in to partake in a photoshoot and used their energetic and smiling faces to create imagery that showed our fans and players and teased the colors along with the released date.
The final product displayed our passionate fans, their personalities, and excitement for what's next for the Club. It was rewarding seeing all the fans come in and their shock at a full orange kit—an NYCFC first. We felt we created a look that stood out from other teams and embodied the culture the fans have created so far. Welcome to The Volt Kit era.
