MAJOR PROJECT REPORT - MASTER'S ASSIGNMENT

Alongside my final submission,(Colours of Piccadilly) for my Masters programme, I was required to submit a 7000 word, researched and designed supporting essay.

This text explained the research that I undertook to find a resolution to my research question, "How can I map a city space through the lens of colour?"

My purpose through the project was to bring hidden colour in the city space out into the open, and to encourage people to acknowledge the very important influence colour has on our experience of the city. To reflect this idea in the structure of my book, I decided to employ the french fold mothod of binding. All the colour was concentrated on the inner sides of the french fold, while there was no colour on the outside of the page where the information lay.

My research question.
The cover of the book, which is lying shut in its paper case.  It holds the overall branding I designed for my entire submission - a symbolic representation of the map of Piccadilly Circus.
