MOONTAIN
The higher you get, the stronger the effects of climate changes. This year in the French Alps, many are the places not having seen any fresh snow from mid-December to mid-February. The remains of early winter snowfalls either flew away with the wind or aggregated as the sun warmed the mountains while the freezing nights froze it time and time again.

While the situation seemed desperate, about five centimeters of fresh snow fell during the night. Clearly not enough for the skiers out there to be happy, but a blessing for a photographer. The carved crusts formed during the previous weeks combined with just the right amount of fresh snow provided me with the best of both worlds: textures and masked details — a moonlike landscape.
