Ceratophrys stolzmanni frog

Morphological characteristics of the gastrula in Ceratophrys stolzmanni

This animation was presented as a learning object, as part of the thesys work submitted by Mr. Juan Diego Santillana Ortiz both at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and the Max-Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany in 2009. The title of the exhibition was "Morphological characteristics of the gastrula in Ceratophrys stolzmanni (Anura: Ceratophryidae) and with this learning object is described in a few seconds the process of gastrulation, which takes a few hours of a fast-developing frog from southern Ecuador. This movie also highlights the importance of the structure known as gastrocele roof plate (GRP) where there are cilias that move clockwise to produce a difference of fluid within the embryo that allows the formation of left axis -law as the body needs to, inter alia, have the bodies on the correct side. Finally, we show the real image of the cilia GRP, without an animation such as this one, it would not be so easy to understand for people not related with the subject
