Degree Final Project

This is the final project I worked on along 3 other classmates for the Degree in Industrial Design.
This project consisted in the design of an abrasion cleaning system integrated in a trailer. The system was based in a feeder assembly patent to dispense dry ice into an air flow (US 20070128988 A1), and it would have all the necessary elements to work in an autonomous way, being only necessary a towing vehicle.
Redesign of the feeder assembly, the core of the system (green arrows represent the air flow, red arrows represent the dry ice pellets).
The cleaning method would be abrasion by dry ice pellets, which is the carbon dioxide solid form. This sublimes when contacting with the surface intended to clean, due to its high speed; removing most of the substances attached the first layer of the surface.
Trailer with all the necessary elements to work autonomously (dry ice deposit and pneumatic system above, generator and air compressor below, control panel on the left).
The chosen application would be street cleaning as a complement to the common services. It would be put into practice by a company that would take care of the hiring of the trailers to the cleaning companies, and also of its maintenance.
Different layers of the trailer, from the functional prototype to the aesthetic cover.
Concept art of the machine working.
