In 2020 I took part in the School of Motion Cinema 4D Ascent class. One of the first assignments was to render a short Animation using Redshift.

This is what I came up with.
The models and scene was provided by SoM but shading, lighting and rendering was all handled by the students.

I had rendered it before but now I wanted to test my new laptop, as well as finally using ACES.

It turned out pretty nice. However the render times where a bit long(about 5-10h depending on the shot) but considering the DoF and MB which was straight from within the renderer it wasn't too bad.

I rendered everything in 720p and after some  Multi Pass Compositing I upscaled the animation to 1080p.
I didn't do to much work on the individual AOVs but rather apply some overall grading and a bit of subtle glow.
Also some Chromatic Aberration and a bit of lense texture was added to make the image less perfect.
When I started compositing the shots I noticed some strange "fireflys" in the SpecularLighting AOV. As those occured randomly it was hard to spot at first and even altering some render settings didn't help.

After doing some research it looks like that it has to do with my chosen HDRI which might be to bright. But I didn't want to set up a new lighting setup for all the shots and re-render them.
So I went in and painted all of the "fireflys"(seen in the red circle in the image down below) out of the frames
The project was a lot of fun and I hope you liked it as well. Thanks for checking out my work 😎🤘
Update:
As I wanted to test out the Realtime Renderer URender I decided to use it on this scene as well.
I had to recreate all the shaders and adjusted the lighting.
It only took about 1 1/2h to render the scene in full hd(bars where added in post as I liked the look) compared to about 40h in 720p in RS.
There are a few "problems"/artefacts within the rendering but for the most part it looks quite nice. The DoF and Motionblur comes from the Renderer.
I had planed to do some Mulit-Pass compositing at first, but as there were a few problem with the passes, I decided to only use a few utility ones in addition to the main beauty pass.
