Columbia Craft Brewery Mural
I wanted to create a fun, playful piece that incorporates the beer making process. I decided to focus on the hops, painting them in the bold blue colors associated with the brand. Both of the hops were given gold stars, to symbolize quality, and to further tie in to the company's brand.. The hop on the right acts as a doorway into the brewery. The leaves are peeled back along with the wall to reveal the brewing equipment inside along with the cask barrels. I wanted to create an interactive part to the mural, so I created a character out of one of the tanks. It is inviting people passing by for a photo opportunity and to come in for a cold drink. The beer in the mug offers a chance to inject the gold color of the brand, as reflected light and gives a magical glow to the scene. I believe this mural will appeal to everyone who loves craft beer as much as I do, and add to the vibrancy of Columbia, South Carolina's cultural district.
The mural took my wife and I, 50 hours to paint over the course of 6 days.
