“Música em pó” is a documentary directed and filmed by Eduardo Morais which portrays the stories of some the greatest Portuguese vinyl collectors. This documentary addresses music throughout its format, its glimmering covers or even throughout the journey of the vynil until its final owner.
The aim of this project was to promote “Música em Pó” within the festival Novas Artes Associadas (NAA) in Barcelos. We took as main representation element to this poster the figure of Hugo Montenegro (New York 1925 – Palm Springs 1981). An american composer, conductor and cinema music director who was mainly known by his movie soundtracks.
Similar to the ambience of the documentary, I assumed a great importance of relating the conception of this poster directly to music. Therefore the image of Hugo Montenegro came about as a reunion of the concepts of cinema, music and vinyl, because he used to be an artist deeply involved in music and cinema, having most of his worked edited in vinyl.
Hugo Montenegro – Moog Power (song)
Hugo Montenegro’s Moog Power is one of his master pieces from which there are very few copies nowadays. This vinyl is a relic to vinyl collectors.
So which better image to represent a documentary about vinyl than one of the most iconic and rare records ever made.
