This project is designed to promote low-carbon lifestyle in a large urban setting. The goal is to motivate people to adopt low-carbon living by reducing the number of days they use their automobiles. In addition, the project will elicit the public’s cooperation in developing the Boston area as a more eco-friendly place to live.

The deliverables of this project are a billboard advertisement, a combination of bumper sticker and a brochure, and a website. A solar powered billboard advertisement will be placed in the middle of Route 128/Interstate 95 in Boston to support the idea of renewable energy. Drivers will make an online pledge to leave their cars at home one day per week and will receive a mailer containing a day specific bumper sticker (ex., Tuesday bumper sticker or Wednesday bumper sticker) as well as a small brochure on the project giving information. Then the pledged drivers will place the bumper sticker on back of their cars and will not use the day that they pledged. This will provide day-to-day reminder to people about this project and motivate people to take action.
