About
Hello! I'm Goh Jia Hern, a graphic designer & illustrator based in Selangor, Malaysia, specializing in packaging design and illustrations. My curiosity about textures, materials, and fabrication can be found in most of my works, while always looking forward to exploring more.
Idea
Observing our surrounding (people, nature, structure, etc) from a close up point of view to from afar will always discover new interesting details that we may never notice before, existing right in front of us everyday. All of these are translated across my self promotional package with the action of flipping or unfolding something to discover another. Always being curious.
Message
Wanting to express the sense of curiosity that made who I’m today as a graphic designer. I came up with visual using cat as a elements to convey my message in the most friendliest tone. Giving the viewers a chance to see the world from my perspective.
Stationery Set
Name card
Reaching for the star (literally).
Resume
It has a folded corner on the bottom right side which show a close up view of a cat from the back but if unfolded the viewers will see the whole cat which is pointing at something very important.
Letterhead
Similarly like the resume, if unfolded, the viewers will be surprise with a whole cat hanging upside down by its leg. Why is it hanging upside down, is up to the viewers’ imagination.
Envelop
It is easier to bring out the idea as the whole cat visual can just hid under the opening of the envelope itself. Hanging out, waiting to welcome anyone who open the envelope to see what's inside.
Portfolio Showcase Book
Each project start with a full spread view and a small orange card in the middle which carry all the information about the project itself.
Front of the orange card - Year, Type, Name, Project Brief.
Back of the orange card - Project Idea, Message.
The ending spread for the portfolio book which is for the reader to rest their eyes and enjoy the simple visual.
Bright orange fill the whole back cover of the book so if any reasons the book is left face down, it will still be bright enough to attract curiosity of a passerby.
Digital Portfolio Showcase
Continuing from the front cover will lead the reader to this page where they can see the full body cat just like in the physical portfolio book.
This is the starting page of each project which show all the detailed information of the project itself, replacing the orange card from the physical portfolio book.
Examples of layout used in the digital portfolio to organize all the project neatly for easy viewing and reading. Each pages have limited photo and shorten explanation to avoid information overload.
