20 days from Bangkok to Saigon and back

20 days from Bangkok to Saigon and back with a sketchbook
These are drawing made in the few times stop, along the crazy road I did with my brother,
from the city of Bangkok to Saigon. No prenotation, no ideas of what travel reserved for us.
4 feet, some tuc-tuc, 2 mini-van and 1 plane.
Starting from Rome train station, sleeping in Fiumicino airport waiting for day to come.
flying from Rome to Wien then Istanbul
waiting next flight for Abudabi in Starbucks coffee at Istanbul airport
falling asleep in restaurant area in Abudabi airport
finally arrived in Bangkok, tired a lot, drinking a local beer, no energy to draw...
finally getting into imperial palace area to see nice statue, demons and long painting about war for world
relaxing under tree
sigarette break in the pier along Chao Phraya river, start raining..
people on street around real palace
dinner in kaosan road with street food, but not fried insects!
last drink before leaving for Siem Reap- Cambodia
dinner at the hotel in Siem Reap
wake up early morning to go at Angkor Wat temples by Tuc-tuc
resting under big smiling rock faces
dinner into Siem Reap market along street before leaving for Phnom Penh
brunch in Phnom penh
taking a rest by the Tonle Sap river
lunch in main street restaurant looking at people outside..
then start raining..
...but people continue selliing food on street and guys start playing capoeira where people were walking before
and so we left by minivan for Ho Chi Min city or Saigon. Here is the big portrait at train station.
breakfast in Saigon. There are many books sellers on street. AT the end we understood that books were so cheap cause of their little fake or fail inside. That's why the seller keep it all in plastic wrap till you buy.
Saigon it's so crowded and people live almost all time closed into cafè which temperature differentiate from outside around 10 minus degrees. He we're having a fresh coconut juice.
My brother drinking a beer at pizza place. I like to try my originary food cooked in different places. Often it's better than in my city..
Finally reached the Emperor Pagoda, the oldest ones. The atmosphere it's really like an old chinese movie: all in darkness and incense smoke.
Dinner at Pho's udon place. Nice old family restaurant inside, so polluted in the place outside.
Last night we met some guys improving their english. They propose us to go at the Cu Chi tunnel that vietnamese soldier dug during the American war. We went there at late time with no other foreigners..So nice to feel alive after it...a strange sensation. I suggest not to go there..
At Saigon airport we were stopped by police that took our passport and let us wait for so long that we were going to loose our flight to go back in Bangkok. All without no one speak to us. At the end we took flight and everything fine..
Bangkok, market place. It's raining so we decide to "lose" time fooling around and taking a coffee into a very particular place managed by a youg girl with so cool stuff inside. I had a guinnes cake!
taking the boat to next river and see the old temple Wat Arun
enjoying street meal for one last time and looking at interesting thai box training, with a lot of foreigners too
in the freezing Bangkok airport, trying to find a place to stay and covering our body with all we can!
Abu Dhabi airport is not that better but we found a pair of recliner armchair.
Instanbul airport was our second trip in a trip. We spend a lot of time there but we couldnt be able to go out in city. So we wrote and sent postcard and read a lot.
One last night sleeping in that terrible airport that Fiumicino is, but with a full and nice experience in our mind...
