Adieu, Old Friend

This is what I 'cut my teeth' on back in 1988 when I worked as an architectural intern for SOM at 33 West Monroe, down inside the loop, in Chicago. Working alongside my mentor Michael McInturf crafted drawings with plastic lead on mylar, for the drawings to be shipped to London and allow construction to begin beyond Liverpool Street Station, north of the city of London. My personal part of the project were the columns, with their 'rocket' like analogy. I was later to continue working for them in London in 1989 and due to the nagging feeling of this project when I was in Berlin, I returned to London in 2000 to rekindle my relationship with them for another 12 years. Word has it that a new scheme is being envisaged for this project, so I bid adieu to this blast from the past, one more time.
