    Every year in Orleans, visitors from all over the world join in a three day "fete", a Medieval festival honoring Joan of Arc 's victorious raising of the siege on May 8th, 1429. The Cathedral St. Croix, where Joan gave thanks during her lifetime, becomes illuminated with images during a two hour spectacular "light show" that tells the life story of the girl who led the French army at the age of 17. Two years later, in the city of Rouen, she was convicted of heresy and witchcraft, and died at the stake at age 19. Within one year of public action, she had reversed the outcome of the Hundred Years War. Read Less
