Neil Alpert is an experienced businessman and entrepreneur and served in a number of both fo profit and non profit roles throughout his career, including as the chief executive officer of Laserlock Technologies, a publicly traded company now known as VerifyMe (NASDAQ: VRME)..

In 2013, Laserlock created a characteristic verification system (CVS) that can be used on phones and detects counterfeit products. CVS can help people protect themselves from identity fraud. Laserlock acquired a biometric authentication technology to create the CVS. LaserLock had been a physical authentication company but, by acquiring the CVS technology, and building it out, LaserLock added to its portfolio, a technology that could identify any human being on earth with high accuracy and performance.

CVS was created as a response to the continuing demand for efficient authentication technologies in markets and supply chains. CVS has many advanced features and uses the integrated camera of the phone to detect and observe counterfeits. It also uses an artificial light source in order to determine with certainty a person's identity.
