Fort Sint-Andries is strategically located, where Maas and Waal almost touch. In fact, these are two different fortresses with the same name. The old Sint-Andries was built by the Spaniards during the Eighty Years' War. The New Fort Sint-Andries from 1815 is little more than an exciting ruin.It was blown up during the second world war.
