the Boy forgot to cry

The Syrian Boy
In 2016, a photo entered the eyes of the public all over the world. A 5-year-old Syrian boy named Omran Daqneesh, was pulled from a damage building after a airstrike in the city of Aleppo.

BEIRUT, Lebanon — In the images, he sits alone, a small boy coated with gray dust and encrusted blood. His little feet barely extend beyond his seat. He stares, bewildered, shocked and, above all, weary, as if channeling the mood of Syria.

But some images strike a particular nerve, for reason both obvious and unknowable, jarring even a public numbed to disaster.

Now that 6 years have passed, had this helpless boy succeeded in finding his family back? Did he know what happened at that time? Is he growing up healthy and safe?

The drafting of Omran as an emblem despair is not new ; images of dead and injured children from all over the world are shared daily on the social media, many of them indescribably more harrowing.

The photos and reports in the past will become historical events and gradually fade out of people's sights and minds. The doll which I made, "The Boy Forgot To Cry"  hope to represent all the children who were persecuted by the war. May the world never be smoked.
