PROJECT SCOPE: 3D Upper and early bottom look development.

The approach I took for the outsole was to rely primarily on displacement maps for getting the tread to read as per the design. Creating some high quality alpha's that would tile was step 1. Once I did that i could set up my outsole geo to plug in different materials and tweak from there. The team was mostly interested in exploring what that waffle tread looked like wrapping in the heel.
A big part of the this project was the sole unit. The design ended up not too different from a traditional wafflecup..but some of the earlier iterations were pushing things a bit further. I wanted to focus on the sole a bit and present it with a bit of flare to make up for where it ended up.
This was the final hero colorway Merch wanted to highlight, so I went back and updated the model.
