Identity for Sukkerbiten, a seasonal food and bar venue located in Bjørvika, Oslo. Exam project at Westerdals, spring 2013. On a nice summer day, Sukkerbiten is the perfect spot to hang out in the sun, remote from urban noise, yet centrally located right outside Oslo Opera house. Providing a green lawn for tanning and picnics, playground for skating and sports, along with food and beverages, Sukkerbiten is available for both kids and playful grown ups to frolic. It is only natural to serve ice cream at such a scene. At night, when the island is bathing in the afternoon sun, this sweet treat turns into a vibrating urban art scene and venue. Colored by the name (Sugar cube), my design is inspired by the teeming life of an ant farm. I see Sukkerbiten as a part of the recent construction development in Bjørvika, 'Barcode' which is often seen as cold and inhabited, and I wanted to present it as rather a vivid part of this urban space. The playful pattern makes it possible to retrieve the logo in a dynamic manner, accordingly to any given situation, and provides the business with a unique identity that can cover large surfaces.
