These are a few photos of one the two paintings I made for a friend's house.
I chose to paint Shiva as a complex, decorative and elegant figure, powerful and slightly menacing. As from tradition, I accompanied him with a good number of objects and symbolical elements that remind us his spiritual characteristics. I was interested in point the attention to the transformation, the passing of time (the river), dance and music (the drums), the destroying and renewing power (the weapons, the fire). For the pose, I was inspired by the traditional Indian statues I saw at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford at the beginning of 2013. I also wanted to paint a natural landscape tinted in the colours of a sunset.
