Membrane Awakening
For this project, I had to provide a full-size color illustration and two black and white spot illustrations for a scientific journal article entitled "Membrane Awakening". The article describes the relationship between a cell's membrane and its environment, and its selectivity in allowing certain elements to pass through its walls, and denying access to others. The first illustration shows the cell's ability to monitor all aspects of itself at once, keeping an eye out for unwanted or potentially threatening elements. The second illustration shows the cell's unique structure allows only certain things to come through, while the third illustration portrays the membrane as an active enforcer and line of defense.
