Online Portfolio

For this UX Design course, we were provided with four unrelated project options to create an app. Our objective was to choose an app we were interested in and could solve a problem for users. For this project, I chose the Expert app, which enabled any user to chat with an expert in almost any field.

I began this assignment by getting into the mind of a UX’er, picking two important features to focus on, developing hypotheses, analyzing competitors, and defining personas. In my competitor analysis, I chose companies with platforms similar in service or that provided the same service.
I then went into thinking about the user journey that the persona would take and developed user flows.
In order to understand the mind of the users, post-creating my take on user flows, sitemaps were created after conducting a card sorting exercise with potential users.
After reviewing the flows with users, I created my first visual design for the app. Next, mobile designs of low fidelity were created.
Following the low-fidelity prototyping, mid-fidelity prototypes were created.
I was then able to decide on a final set of designs for which I created a set of high-fidelity wireframes.
Well, not final. There’s still more…
Out of the stages of low and mid-fidelity prototypes, I continued to work with the high-fidelity wireframes, conducting usability tests and making improvement iterations. To keep me on track and consistent with each participant, I created a testing script.
To continue refining the design of the app, I applied grids to provide better spacing and balance.
Iterations continued post incorporating visual design principles, developing a design language, and gathering more feedback from participants. Many improvements were made that took the app to a more polished state.
This led to the final version of the app with all iterations and feedback applied.
