The Aïr Sound system
In the time between our last class joint packaging design project with Eaton and the preparation for our senior thesis I wanted to explore more styles of design through experimentation with abstract forms.
I decided to go with the concept for a computer speaker because it provided me with an opportunity to design something whose proportions allotted for a large degree of freedom when creating new shapes and structures.
For the Creation of this product I wanted to focus on the combination of form and materials into a cohesive and functional object. To accomplish this I drew from both abstract, vintage and minimalist forms to assist in the ideation.
The inception of the speakers form stemmed from a very bulbous set of Logitech speakers connected to an old computer at my parents home. Translating that design into a far more modern style proved to be much simpler than I imagined when I stripped the reference down to its bare and rounded triangular shape.
