These images are part of a series composed of 7 creative strategies.  The challenge was to choose a common household object and utilize it in to 7 specific, challenging, creative ways to develop graphic design and software skills. These 7 areas, along with an explanation of how they were used, are:

Isolation - In this instance, the state of Wyoming has been isolated from the rest of the states.  This is representative of reality in many ways, most notably geographically as Wyoming is in the mountains cut off from civilization and much of it is desolate.  In the winter is it quite frequent that roads going in and out of the state are closed and no one is able to get in or out.

Metaphor/Simile - The metaphor for this image is "cutting time".  Many of us feel lie we would like to cut time in one way or another, and a normal clock is rigid and uncooperative in this endeavor.

Juxtaposition - The soft, dark curls in this photo are juxtaposed against the hard, light, straight blades of the scissors.  Though the hair takes up more space, it doesn't stand a chance.

Material Change, Swap, or Focus - Instead of the scissors doing the cutting here, they have been the item cut out of the cloth.

Physical/Shape Similarity - The way scissors move by nature is very reminiscent of Pac-Man, and they also share their desire to chomp everything they can get ahold of.

Change of Context or Environment - Generally it is the COVID virus that is wreaking havoc on the humans it comes in contact with, however in this composition it is the scissors replacing the nodules on the virus- taking aim and causing discomfort.

Combination - Chopsticks are very fun to use to eat sushi, but to those who haven't acquired the skill yet it can be very cumbersome.  Combining scissors with chopsticks solves the problem and makes eating sushi a piece of cake.
