7 CREATIVE STRATEGIES

7 CREATIVE STRATEGIES

This was a Graphic Design project I participated. I am a BYU Idaho student who is completing a certificate in Graphic Designing. The project was to represent the following seven Creative Strategies, Combination, Juxta-positioning, Isolation, Metaphor or Simile, Change of Content or Environment, Physical Shape Similarity, Material Change, Swap or Focus. I really enjoyed this project and learned new tools in Photoshop. Take a look at my designs below.
Here are some of my brainstorming and sketching ideas
COMBINATION:
Bringing together two unrelated things to create a new object that still makes some sort of sense. I combined the paddles on the ore with the tip of a spoon to create a new kind of ore.
JUXTA-POSITIONING:
Showing the differences between to things and not what they have in common. I took the top of a spoon and replaced the heads of the mannequins to show the contrast between the two objects.
ISOLATION:
Separating the object from its surroundings. I took different wooden spoons and arranged them around the silver spoon to isolate it in the middle.
METAPHOR:
Enhance the meaning of an image as it relates to something else. I took scrabble titles to create a message with the spoon and the boy.
CHANGE OF CONTEXT OR ENVIORNMENT:
Taking contrasting objects with unnatural or uncommon environments to highlight a concept or communicate an idea. I took a boy who was sitting on a stack of books and placed him on a spoon to show that there are other ways to learn.
PHYSICAL SHAPE SIMILARITY:
The use of physical similarities to showcase connections between objects that normally don’t connect. I took a four leaf clover and added the tip of a spoon to replace the leaves.
MATERIAL CHANGE, SWAP OR FOCUS:
Swapping a material property that we are accustomed to with another. I took a lollipop top and replaced it with the tip of a spoon.
