Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation, but is also active in painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry, fiction, and other arts. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content. She has been acknowledged as one of the most important living artists to come out of Japan.

I hold her in high regards and wanted to create a book cover design inspired by her work.
To showcase how multi faceted and unique she is, I started off with primary colors to outline her face.I used acrylic and ear buds following pointillism. I used this image for the back cover.
For the front cover, color mixing with a limited palette I made 2 versions. For print - cmyk and for digital -rgb, I printed each color with different values and different opacities on transparent sheets so when put together they bring out a different color altogether. (This process took a lot of trial and error).

Thank you
