Hotel Syracuse
The hotel is located on the east side of downtown Syracuse. The concept for the hotel is essentially a base and a tower. The base and tower are separated from each other with only the central core connecting the two. The tower is skewed off the axis of the base to further emphasis this fact and to accommodate different views that the base does not give. The base has its own concepts, as it is supposed to represent an extension of the garden that is located behind the base of the hotel. The tower houses only the hotel rooms, whereas the base houses they lobby, a restaurant, and shops. To further te idea of the base rising from the garden, the base also houses a rooftop garden and is quite thick in that it is mostly made up of load bearing walls. The tower, by contrast, is made of panels that are slightly separated from the wall, to give the appearance that it is floating above the base. This project was designed and produced in collaboration with Blanca Roura.
