This is our Big Film Project, Aliens. We used the Canon XA-10 camera to film the scenes (f/1.8, 1/50, 24fps, at 1080p (1920x1080)), and Adobe Premiere Pro & after Effects for post processing. The story is about a bad student who is off tasking in class (reading an Aliens magazine), he then gets sent to detention by the teacher. At detention, he falls asleep and encounters an aliens attack. Our inspiration for Aliens were Independent Day (Aliens) and Breakfast Club (detention), and I wanted to achieve a Modern Cinematic feel. The film is exactly two minutes long.
For Aliens, I created a title that looks like it was handwritten. I used the Track Matte Key and transparent video to create it. The font used in the title is BRUX. I was inspired by the typewriter titles other people used in their films. This took me around 60 minutes to complete.
This was one of the toughest shots we filmed for Aliens, because the shot required us to use a dolly (tripod with wheels). It was challenging because the floor we filmed on was not the smoothest, and it was bumpy at times. It took us around 25 takes to get a decent shot. In Premiere, I had to apply the Warp Stabilizer effect to make the footage smoother. We were inspired by a short film we watched which included a hallway scene.
To practice my editing skills, I took a stock video of people wake boarding and edited it in Adobe Premiere Pro to make a Montage. I was inspired by the cinematic sport videos. I took royalty free music from YouTube. The montage ended up being one minute long. At last, I colour corrected the clips to make them look better.
This is a multi-cam Two-person conversation exercise I conducted with Mr. Miller and the rest of DMA Lite Film. The conversation was about Vir (Left) and Tobin (Right) talking about what they had for lunch. We used the Canon XA-10 camera to film (f/1.8 (lowest possible on this camera, to achieve background blur), 1/50, 24fps, at 1080p (1920x1080)), and Adobe Premiere Pro for editing. To achieve multi-cam, we used three cameras (one on the right, left, and centre). However, one of the cameras didn't have audio turned on, so it took me a long time to manually synchronise the clips instead of using the auto sync feature on Premiere. Like before with Aliens, I wanted to achieve a modern cinematic feel.
I also worked on the credits for the Argyle Drama film "Sid's Revenge". I used the start files (Word document including the actors and Photoshop document) to make the credits. The software I used is Adobe Photoshop. I wanted the credits to look professional and neat, and I think I achieved my goal. It took me around 70 minutes to create the draft.
