Valentin's Day: A tribute to Lydia Valentin
This is a Work in progress of a tribute to an extraordinary Spanish athlete – Lydia Valentin. In this work, I wanted to depict the grace and the power of weightlifting using Cel animation as my main technique.

Character Design
I wanted to depict Lydia's face in a simplified format while keeping face features that make her unique. Thus, the main accent was made on her big cat-like eyes and her powerful chin.
Color Palette
Color palette was heavily inspired by Lydia Valentin herself. It is a combination of her official Olympic outfit and accessories that she often wears for a competition.
Storyboards + Color Script
The goal was to show important steps of executing snatch – a complicated and graceful move in weightlifting. I wanted to show mental and physical preparation, the movement itself, and a final countdown concluding in the victory.
In the very end, Lydia can be seen showing a heart gesture – an image that Lydia is also known for.
