Senior Project - Madison Bedenbaugh

Climb 1
Climb 1 began with a presentation of three different choices for my senior project. Food and plants are probably my two favorite things so naturally they were in my selections.

After some thought, I decided to choose the succulent terrarium for my Senior Project.
Climb 2
Personally, I love to plan out my projects with a full colored concept. It really helps me visualize what I want my model to look like. It allows me to stay focused on creating what I have planned out and I don't get side tracked by changing or adding things.
The original sketch was missing something...
So, to make it a tad more interesting, I added a cute mushroom house inside the bottle and added another succulent! I also added a stick next to the mushroom house to keep the composition balanced.
Climb 3
This week I jumped into Blender to start the modeling for my project!

Since all of the other objects are going to be showcased inside the bottle, I wanted to complete the bottle model first.
As I was working on the shape of the model, I realized I really liked the original shape of the bottle in the first sketch I did. I took inspiration from both concepts and ended up with the shape shown above.
Render test completed in Blender with the Cycles renderer.
After finding the perfect tutorials to guide me through how I would complete the glass material, I worked on adding the perfect glass look to my own model. It took some trial and error with messing with the settings in the node editor, but I am very happy with the final look!

To finish up the bottle, I modeled the cork lid and added a simple base color material so that I can add a more detailed painted texture later.

For the render test, I added a cube primitive to the scene and put it inside the bottle so that I can see how well you can see the objects inside. I am really happy with the result and with some more lighting I think the final result will look very nice!

Climb 5
The past week has been pretty hectic so I didn't get to accomplish as much as I wanted to. Although, I was able make some iterations on the mushroom house! Even though I have a lot of other objects that are going to fill the scene, my feedback from Ascent 1 states that my little house needs a little bit more interesting characteristics. So, I added a couple more things. There is only so much I want to add right now since most of the detail for the mushroom house is going to be hand painted on the model later.
Here are the updates I made to the mushroom house the other day:
I added some cute little shutters to the windows and completely remodeled and sculpted a new top for the mushroom. I can't wait to paint on this thing and see it really come to life!

Please watch the following video to see all updates for Climb 6.
Thank you for watching!
Climb 7
Here are some photos from what I did today as well as an embedded sketchfab model!
Personally, I am in love with how it is looking right now and I still have lots of plans. The little bench on the top of the mound is the last thing I put in and I want to edit the shape of the wood pieces to make it look more hand crafted (probably by the person that lives in the mushroom!). More models will be added throughout the scene to fill any empty spots. I think one thing I am going to add is a little hand held lantern next to the bench.
Soon I will be able to share an update with some textures completed which I am very excited for!
Climb 8
Hey guys!

So this week included some pretty big changes! I go over everything in my video for this week so check that out and let me know what you think! I believe I am done with modeling at this point and next week I will finally have some textured models to share with everyone.
Climb 9
Sorry everyone!

No update for this week

Climb 10
Climb 11
This week I worked on texturing the dirt, big mushroom (stem, top, and door), and iterating on the moss as well. I am still not 100% done with the textures for these. I will continue to adjust as I texture other models as well.
Climb 12
Climb 13
Hey guys!

This week's update includes the creation of a second Behance page that will house all of the final renders for my artifact.

Enjoy!
