With the release of their latest percussion music pack, Sauce Music was looking to commission a fun promotional image that was themed around the variety of instruments used within the album. Percussion can create a sensory and world-building sound, so we built a mini world filled with curious shapes, colour and movement. We wanted it to feel alive, creating playful intrigue and a sense of escapism.

With quite an open brief, I began by finding references for the various percussion instruments used in the album. Percussion instruments come in many fun shapes and sizes and I wanted to bring this playful feel to the image. Looking at all the handheld instruments I began to imagine a forest of bells and shakers, this became the starting point for the image. Starting with a rough 3D block out and sketch I began to evolve the scenes composition as the assets were modelled and textured.
