ALIEN 3 ~ THE XENOMORPH vs RIPLEY / SIGOURNEY WEAVER

The main request was to draw the key characters facing each other and framed in profile, focusing on the conflict / relationshiop between them.

I was assigned Alien 3 and Panic Room. For the first couple of portraits I focused on a strong illumination: while in the first alien the Xenomorph is a presence in the shadows never clearly visible, in the following films it is revealed in the smallest details. I followed this interpretation for adding details and structure to the Xenomorph, and harden Ripley's expression.

I drew the illustrations using a ballpoint pen for faces and shadows, and Procreate for colors and clothes; below the analogical process, from pencils to the final ballpoint artwork.

PANIC ROOM ~ MEG / JODIE FOSTER vs BURNHAM / FOREST WHITAKER

For Panic Room I instead worked on shadows, as if the character faces were brightened by a screen light. I focused on their aesthetics, balancing the details of Meg's hair with Burnham's clothes, and on their eye expression, changing Jodie’s one from surprised to defiant, and working on Forest to underline his melancholy.

I left the clothes sketched thus trying to put a focus only on the details and expressions of the characters.
