Respublica Identity / Branding

The client is a PR firm and the task was to create a branding that reflects the dynamism and mind signs of a go-getting outfit with a portfolio of national and multi-national clients.

It was decided to focus on the capital letter 'R'  the first letter of client's name, as the key visual element because research revealed a unique fact. The letter 'R' has its origin in Egyptian hieroglyph for ‘head’ (Brains-intelligence) or rêš (R) in Semitic language.

It was great to have a client who can hear 'the sounds of silence' of visual language and working in tandem with them, after a few one-to-ones, it was decided to incorporate a speech bubble in the visual canvas. For this, the font Baron Neue, with its flowing yet solid, reassuring feel was choosen. The closed section of letter 'R' of this font was stylised and converted to a neo-classic speech bubble which represented the core function of a PR agency.

A PR firm is a pillar of support to the client and adding this element to the design made it complete in itself. An insight into the complete anatomy of logo design will reveal that the logo is actually a combination of two letters. It is P without the pillar and with it, 'R'. And PR, as is the calling of the client, Respublica.

After considering various hues, Red, a warm and positive color that exudes a powerful energy was adapted as the base color of the logo. For the naming unit, Font Myriad was carefully selected as it had a natural compatibility to the entire design. And in solid black lowercase this font imparted the name ‘respublica’ a matter-of-fact, serious look.

The result was a minimalistic, yet highly visible look & feel that stood apart from the clutter and evoked instant recall. A design with a vibrant personality of its own. A fusion of the mystique and the modern. The classic and the contemporary.
