CV & Portfolio Mailer

Graphic Design

Everyone loves interesting post days. So, in order to break the mould, I reinvented the typical traditional CV and portfolio that beats simply attaching a copy to the end of an email.

Designing my own portfolio has proven to be one of the most challenging projects to develop, as a client to myself has verified how difficult it is to make choices that would usually come as second nature. Nonetheless, it’s one of the most exciting self-initiated projects to complete.

The concept behind the delivery was to create a self-promotional package that was informal, in the format of a simple newspaper to browse in a bid to not craft something too prim. Maintaining simplicity was also vital, ensuring that the format did not overshadow the main body of work.

The 12 page digital tabloid along with self branded business cards and traditionally formatted CV, all produced to a high quality were the set of elements I felt were needed to represent myself to design agencies.

The business cards are 600gsm, printed on Mohawk Superfine stock for a luxury, yet tactile finish. Inside the newspaper is a folded CV, printed on 160gsm white card, designed to register on a serious note, the position I'm applying for. The tabloid itself is 55gsm newsprint, sized at 229 x 280mm, for a full-scale view of my selected projects.

Emerging from my cocoon after leaving university, I needed to stand out. With the opportunity of creating something fresh and innovative, I really grabbed it with both hands by creating a package aimed at connecting with employers instead of the insides of a recycling bin.
