Aboriginals - A postural study

Aboriginals was an attempt at reimagining furniture by tracing sitting styles through history and culture. Studying the influences of popular culture and social constructs on the way we sit, while under scrutiny and in the retreat of personal space. This project was a system study of what the simple act of sitting might have looked like if....
The conclusions made from the study were followed by reimagining furniture to facilitate floor sitting. These furnitures are intended to be used for short durations of time by making floor sitting more appealing. They are not meant to confine but to Liberate the user . The possibilities of sitting on the floor are endless, Hence legs may be drawn up, stretched out or crossed. the Aboriginals only provide support to make floor seating more comfortable.

This project was done as part of the course systems design under the guidance of P Ramakrishna rao at the National Institute of design.
