ICONIC DRIVERS Commission

Formula-1 'ICONIC DRIVERS' commission
Last year I got to work together with an amazing client to create 4 artworks of his favorite Formula-1 drivers. After the initial discussions and agreeing on some ideas I had pretty much a free hand to create what I thought best represented these racers.
Juan Manuel Fangio - 1957 Maserati 250F

Easily the most dominant and recognizable car and driver from the '50s was Fangio and his red Maserati. With this piece I wanted to capture the laid back and amateurish nature of early Formula-1 when pit stops took minutes and drivers could enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while their car was being serviced.
Jim Clark - 1967 Lotus 49

The best driver of his generation driving one of the most influential F1 car of all time, Jim Clark and his green-yellow Lotus definitely deserve their spot among motorsport's greatest icons.
James Hunt - 1976 McLaren M23D

When I think of the glamour of F1 the first thing that comes to mind is certainly James Hunt in the '70s.
Ayrton Senna - 1991 McLaren MP4/6

Senna had many spectacular and memorable drives, choosing one was definitely not easy, but the one I arrived at was his first home Grand Prix victory. I wanted to illustrate him seemingly cutting through the rain with his McLaren.
Thanks for checking these out, let me know your thoughts!
