One Nine Two Hours One Space

“One Nine Two Hours One Space” is a three-fold accordion book with a cardstock cover, documenting the steady devolvement of my mental state during a sudden eight-day quarantine I was put into after a friend exposed me to COVID-19.

The central folds of the accordion open out into a panoramic time-lapse style illustration of various different versions of myself performing different tasks in the enclosed space of my room — some of them mundane, and some of them more absurd. The back folds of the accordion contain textual narration of these events, which humorously gets to the heart of my frustration during quarantine.

Overall, the project is meant to play with readers’ perception of time through both the cyclical nature of the events being narrated and the use of of multiple figures in one space to connote the passage of time — a common trope in sequential art.
