Kizuna is a non-profit, non- governmental, networking organization from Timișoara, Romania. It was formed by a group of leaders who wished to create a bond between Romania and Japan, teaching and promoting the japanese culture. The next images are the graphics used on social media for promoting the organization's japanese language courses.
Usually, Kizuna members choose japanese traditional graphics but, according to organization's target audience, anime style images should be used too. Numerous teens begin to learn japanese language due their passion for anime. Therefore, I made a few graphics using this style to gain their attention.
Because our target audience is split in two different directions, I made a lo-fi anime style sketch and a japanese traditional one. Lo-fi image style was my inspiration because it's popular in anime communities and it also communicate the idea of hard study. My second inspiration source was Ghibli studio due it's unique and hard working characters.

The main motif used in the traditional style graphic is the well known japanese mountain, Fuji. The courses starting date is in January, therefore I found it right to make an icy, freezing texture to express the intensity of studying.
Because anime belongs to the pop culture of Japan, I choose to give a smooth nuance of pop art, using flat colors, outlines and dots to define shadows. In this stage of project, I wanted to give a japanese vibe to the image. Thinking at ephemeral sakura trees, I created a pink-blue color range, in order to communicate the softness and the fragility of this flowers.

Contrast is the one who catch the eye. The image have two high contrast zones, the text one and the window one. The latter, is the center of interest in this composition. I illustrated Mt. Fuji in the background only to show that the girl is studying japanese and perhaps she's dreaming to go in Japan sooner or later.
After few reviews, my client wanted a chromatic range which express the hardship of intense study. For the anime style graphic, I used red color hues, opposite to the japanese traditional image, where I used light blues to show the similarity between the intensity of cold and the intensity of study.

To add some contrast and to make a semantic difference between the warm room and the outside world, I applied dark green and dark blue for the window scene to the lo-fi style image. On the other side, the traditional japanese graphic's contrast is made by the light blue color and the red from the logos. I felt that the image was slightly odd, so I created a contrast between the shape of Fuji and the clouds.
