Our entry to the Dewan Award 2021 competition for a safe and comfortable space for homeless girls that supports their health, educational and psychosocial needs and helps them to achieve their own potential.

Project statement

- A total built area of 15,895 sqm the project contains of a built area 3,813 sqm with a percentage of 25.4% and the unbuilt area 74.6% divided into hardscape 5,407 sqm 38.3% softscape 5,780 sqm 51.7%, the project is balanced between outdoor and indoor activities.

- The project approach is to build a simple yet detailed and familiar environment for the girls starting with the type of residential buildings up to the perforated walls that creates minimal openings with percentage of 10% void in all the facades that faces the sun in addition to the slanted windows which is a very effective way to adapt with the site forces that are very prominent especially the heat. the windows design of the houses respects the privacy of the girls from the neighboring sites as well as the project site itself, grading from public, semi-public to end up with the private houses area providing a public, private as well as a services entry. The accessibility for disabled people is the most important from the design of the bathrooms to the ramps in every component. At the end the approach of the concept is focusing on the psychological part giving feelings rather than looks.
