Heated tobacco device user pain point
Some of the biggest problem about Heated tobacco devices are that the blade, stick pocket tend to break easily
or deformation due to high temperature. Therefore, it's product life time are very short.
It is very inconvenient making an appointment to visit, the time people spend during the visit and the time for repairing it.

E-cigarette user usage pattern
People started smoking from regular cigarettes to heated tobacco devices because of health issues.
There were some observations that those who were not satisfied with heated tobacco devices were switching to Liquid based electronic cigarettes or using both devices. I wanted to show people a better solution that can benefit both consumer and the seller/manufacturer providing a product that can used as Liquid based electronic cigarette and heated tobacco device at the same time only by changing the cartridges.
Consumers can reduce costs of buying two different devices and sellers/manufacturers make profit by selling the cartridges.
건강 문제 때문에 일반 담배에서 가열식 담배 장치로 흡연을 시작했습니다.
궐련형 전자담배에 만족하지 못하는 사람들이 액상형 전자담배로 전환하거나 두 장치를 모두 사용하고 있다는 일부 관찰이 있었습니다.
카트리지 교체만으로 액상형 전자담배와 궐련형 전자담배를 동시에 사용할 수 있는 제품을 제공하여 소비자와 판매자/제조업체 모두에게 이익이 되는 더 나은 솔루션을 사람들에게 보여주고 싶었습니다. 소비자는 두 가지 다른 장치를 구입하는 비용을 절감할 수 있고, 판매자/제조업체는 카트리지를 판매하여 이익을 얻을 수 있습니다.

Ideation
Functions are added through product modularization to the mechanism, and the shortcomings of previous products are supplemented.
Key Point: Cartridge Removal / Cigarette Cartridge + Liquid Cartridge
1. The disadvantage of the weak feeling of hitting is the adoption of a metal housing and temperature selection method that can maximize the thermal efficiency of the heating part.
2. By applying the R value(Radius), it is possible to thoroughly clean the areas around the blade that are difficult to clean.
3. Solve the disadvantages of deformation and breakage of stick pockets by replacing them with metal and increase heat transfer
4. Realization of easy maintenance by easily replacing the time-consuming after-sales service through cartridges. Long-life heating blades due to material change.
5. Addition of cartridge changeable specification for liquid e-cigarette needs.
메커니즘에 제품 모듈화를 통해 기능을 추가하고 기존 제품의 단점을 보완합니다.
키포인트: 카트리지 탈부착 / 궐련형 카트리지 + 액상형 카트리지

2. 블레이드 주변 세척이 어려운 부분을 R값을 적용하여 빈틈없이 가능.
3. 스틱 포켓의 변형 및 파손의 단점을 금속으로 대체하여 해결 및 열 전달 증가.
4. 다소 시간이 소요되는 AS 서비스를 카트리지를 통해 손 쉽게 교체하여 쉬운 유지보수 실현. 소재 변경으로 수명이 긴 히팅 블레이드.
5. 액상형 전자담배의 니즈를 위해 카트리지를 변경 가능한 사양 추가

Usability review
Based on 3D data, the mock-up version was printed through a 3D printer.
I have reviewed the various usability such as grip, position and size of the buttons, and ease of attachment and detachment of cartridges.

1. The weak point is that the metal housing is used to maximize the thermal efficiency of the heating part.
2. The heating blades, that are applied in the market, are broken easily.
Therefore, replacing it from ceramic material to SUS304 (STS304) material would solve the issue.
3. Metal can solves the disadvantages of deformation and breakage of stick pockets made of polymer material.
4. Higher atomization than before due to increased thermal conductivity
5. By applying the R value (fillet) to areas that are difficult to clean around the blade, it is possible without any gaps.
6. Easy maintenance through non-stick PTFE (Teflon) coating.
