Case Statement: Engineering our Future

Engineering our Future: The New Engineering Lab Building
UM-Dearborn’s College of Engineering has a bold vision to lead the way in engineering education and research opportunities that will prepare students to be leaders in their field and develop the technological breakthroughs to power the industries of the future. At the center of that forward-looking vision is the new, state-of-the-art Engineering Lab Building (ELB), designed to actively facilitate an immersive, interactive and innovative learning experience.

This case statement reflects that vision, showcasing a re-imagined engineering education focused on students, real industry partnerships, pioneering research, and in order to engage and inform our prospects and donors and inspire giving.
Our goals were three-fold: to inform, engage and inspire our alumni, donors and friends regarding this landmark building on campus.

Feedback on the ELB Case Statement was overwhelmingly positive, with donors and alumni expressing how excited they were to get a comprehensive look at the new building and what it will mean for the campus.  The book arrived just as the pandemic started. Since our in-person meetings were curtailed, we mail it out to donors and prospects, who expressed delight at receiving such a beautiful communications that was not on a screen. Having this tangible piece to share with donors and friends as initial touch points or follow-up has helped gift officers “walk” their prospects through the building, pointing out key aspects, showing where rooms and labs are located--important because these are naming opportunities. The substance and heft of the book was impressive to them, as well, and reflected the significance of the project.
