‘Tabula Rasa’ is a response to a video watched in Theory of Knowledge class featuring Steven Pinker giving a lecture about the human mind and the blank slate. The canvas represents the blank human mind at the start of life, while the black splatter symbolizes society’s influence on us as people. The canvas was made with materials I experimented with which consisted of PVA glue, wallpaper paste, plaster and tissue paper; creating a rippling yet firm texture on the surface.
